Three Held in Kanpur Over Alleged Online Child Abuse Material Network

Published

on

Cyber Crime Police in Kanpur have arrested three individuals accused of operating an online network that allegedly distributed child sexual abuse material (CSAM) through social media platforms. Officials said the accused allegedly used social media accounts to contact potential buyers before sharing illegal content through private messaging services in exchange for money.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the alleged operation, identify additional suspects, and examine whether the network has connections beyond Uttar Pradesh.

Investigation Triggered by Cyber Crime Alert

According to police, the case began after authorities received information through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. The alert reportedly originated from an international child protection reporting system that detected suspicious online activity linked to the sharing of illegal child abuse content.

Cyber investigators traced the suspected individuals using digital evidence, including mobile phone records, IMEI data, and other technical intelligence gathered during the inquiry.

The three accused have been identified as Mohammad Uwais (20), Syed Sharan (18), and Aaqib Khan (22). Police allege that the suspects were involved in distributing illegal content over an extended period. During the operation, investigators seized mobile phones and other electronic devices, which have been sent for forensic examination.

Officials are also reviewing chat histories, financial transactions, and digital payment records to determine the scale of the alleged activities and identify anyone else who may have been involved.

Probe Focuses on Buyers and Potential Wider Network

Investigators have expanded the inquiry to identify individuals suspected of purchasing the illegal material. Authorities are examining bank accounts, digital wallets, and other payment channels to trace financial transactions connected to the alleged network.

Police are also assessing whether the case has any links to organized criminal groups operating in other states. Additionally, investigators are reviewing a separate recently reported case involving allegations of sexually explicit content related to minors. However, officials have clarified that no confirmed connection has been established between the two investigations, and any potential link will depend on evidence gathered during the ongoing probe.

Digital Evidence Plays Key Role

Cybersecurity professionals emphasize that the creation, possession, purchase, sale, or distribution of child sexual abuse material is a serious criminal offence under Indian law. Experts note that digital forensic analysis, financial tracking, and examination of electronic devices are essential tools for identifying everyone involved in such offences.

Authorities also warned that individuals who knowingly possess, share, or purchase such material may face legal consequences regardless of the role they played in the alleged distribution chain.

Legal Process Continues

Legal experts have highlighted that the arrests represent allegations at this stage, and criminal liability can only be determined through judicial proceedings. Under Indian law, every accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Police stated that forensic examinations and financial investigations are continuing, and further arrests or legal action may follow if additional evidence or suspects emerge during the course of the investigation.

Authorities have urged members of the public to report suspected online child exploitation or child sexual abuse material through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, the Cyber Crime Helpline (1930), or other recognized child protection reporting mechanisms.

₹1.5 Crore KDA Plot Fraud Foiled After Woman Allegedly Posed as Original Allottee

Published

on

By

Kanpur: An alleged attempt to fraudulently secure registration of a residential plot valued at nearly ₹1.5 crore has been stopped by officials of the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA). The suspected scheme reportedly involved presenting another woman as the original allottee and manipulating documents in an old KDA property file.

The disputed property, identified as Plot No. A-3 in the Ratanpur Extension Scheme, was originally allotted to Ramani Devi around 25 years ago. The registration process had remained incomplete due to outstanding payments.

According to preliminary findings, the suspected fraud involved forged or duplicated records, a purportedly false identity document and the alleged involvement of intermediaries. KDA officials reportedly detected inconsistencies before the registration could be completed.

Plot Remained Unregistered for Years

The M.I.G. plot was allotted to Ramani Devi decades ago, but the property could not be registered because the required dues had not been fully paid.

Investigators suspect that this unresolved status was exploited to facilitate the alleged fraud. Around ₹30 lakh in outstanding dues was reportedly deposited with the KDA, apparently clearing a major obstacle to the registration process.

Authorities are examining whether the payment was part of a broader plan to make the property appear ready for registration in the name of the original allottee.

Another Woman Allegedly Presented as Ramani Devi

The preliminary inquiry indicates that a different woman was allegedly arranged to appear as Ramani Devi during the registration process.

Documents connected to the original allottee were reportedly copied or altered, while an identity document allegedly bearing false details was prepared. The suspected objective was to create the appearance that the woman attending the registration was the genuine allottee.

Officials are also investigating how the old property records were accessed and whether any individuals with knowledge of the KDA’s internal procedures assisted in preparing the documents.

KDA Official Raises Doubt Over Identity

The suspected fraud reportedly came to light in March when KDA OSD Meenakshi Gupta questioned the identity of the woman presented for registration.

Following the concerns, officials halted the registration and began examining the relevant property records. KDA Secretary Abhay Kumar Pandey also directed that the registration should not proceed until the discrepancies were clarified.

The intervention prevented the disputed property, estimated to be worth around ₹1.5 crore, from potentially being transferred through the alleged fraudulent process.

Forged Records and Broker Role Under Investigation

The inquiry is now focused on more than the alleged impersonation. Investigators are examining whether old KDA records were deliberately manipulated and whether duplicate or forged documents were inserted into the official file.

The possible involvement of brokers and other intermediaries is also being investigated. Authorities are seeking to determine who arranged the woman, prepared the allegedly forged documents and facilitated access to the property records.

Officials are also expected to examine whether any KDA personnel played a role in the suspected scheme.

FIR Filed as Probe Continues

An FIR has been registered following the discovery of the alleged irregularities. Police are investigating the identities and roles of the people suspected of being involved in the attempted property fraud.

The investigation will also examine payment records, identity documents, KDA files and other evidence connected with Plot No. A-3.

For now, the registration of the property has been stopped. Authorities are continuing to investigate the alleged conspiracy and will determine further legal action based on the evidence collected.

₹8.87 Crore Drug Purchases Under Scanner as Aminabad Firms Face Forgery Probe

Published

on

By

Lucknow: The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has uncovered alleged irregularities in drug purchase and supply records involving several firms operating in Lucknow’s Aminabad area. The probe reportedly concerns transactions worth crores of rupees, including purchases that may have been recorded without corresponding physical supplies.

According to the department’s preliminary findings, questionable invoices, suspected cross-billing and transactions involving a firm that had reportedly ceased operations were identified during the investigation. An FIR has been registered at Aminabad police station against four firm operators, and authorities are examining financial records, invoices and stock details.

The individuals named in the case include Ankur Awasthi of Health Plus, Manish Bajpai of MK Pharma, Govind Shukla of Ram Pharma and Ejaz Ahmad of Patient Care Surgical House in Saharanpur.

Alleged Cross-Billing Raised Questions

Investigators suspect that multiple firms may have used invoices and financial transactions to create records suggesting the purchase and sale of medicines.

The alleged transactions are now being compared with bank statements, purchase bills, stock registers and supplier records. Authorities are attempting to determine whether the medicines mentioned in the documents were actually supplied and moved through the claimed distribution chain.

The investigation will also establish the period during which the alleged transactions took place and whether additional businesses were involved.

Drug Purchases Linked to Closed Firm

A major concern in the investigation relates to Patient Care Surgical House in Saharanpur. According to FSDA officials, drug purchases were reportedly recorded in the firm’s name even though it had allegedly stopped operating nearly two years earlier.

Authorities are examining how transactions could have continued to appear under the firm’s name after its reported closure. Investigators are also checking who controlled the firm’s documentation and whether its details were allegedly used to support paper transactions.

Records associated with Health Plus and Ram Pharma are also being examined to trace the claimed purchase, sale and movement of medicines.

MK Pharma’s ₹8.87 Crore Transactions Examined

The records of MK Pharma have emerged as another key part of the probe. According to the investigation, the firm recorded drug purchases valued at approximately ₹8.87 crore in 2026.

Officials reportedly found a discrepancy involving nearly 39.20 lakh units of Joril M-1. The department is now verifying whether the quantity shown in the records was actually supplied and where the stock was allegedly distributed.

Purchase invoices, stock registers, supplier information and banking records are being examined to establish whether the reported transactions correspond with the physical movement of medicines.

Invoices for Joril M-1, Augmentin and Dexorange Questioned

The investigation has also raised concerns over invoices allegedly relating to Joril M-1, Augmentin and Dexorange syrup.

FSDA officials reportedly contacted the manufacturers to verify the disputed invoices and batch information. According to the department, the manufacturers did not confirm sales corresponding to some of the documents, while certain batch details were reportedly found to be inconsistent or fake.

The findings have prompted authorities to investigate not only possible financial irregularities but also the source and movement of the medicines mentioned in the records.

Police and FSDA Trace Wider Supply Network

Following the FIR, investigators are examining the financial and documentary trail connected with the four firms. Bank transactions, invoices, stock records and other business documents are being scrutinised.

Authorities are also checking whether wholesalers, retailers, suppliers or other companies may have been involved in the alleged transactions.

The investigation is expected to determine the actual value of any questionable transactions, whether medicines were physically supplied against the disputed invoices and whether additional individuals or firms played a role.

At this stage, the individuals named in the FIR are accused and the allegations remain subject to investigation. Further action will depend on documentary evidence, financial records and verification from manufacturers and other parties.

Fake Invoices and Bogus ITC Used in ₹100 Crore GST Fraud, Five Held

Published

on

By

Bareilly: Police have arrested five people in connection with an alleged GST fraud network suspected of using fake firms, fabricated invoices and bogus input tax credit (ITC) transactions involving more than ₹100 crore.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sagar Agrawal, Furkan Hashmi, Vineet Arora, Anuj Agrawal and Shivam alias Lala. Investigators allege that the group created or operated firms with little or no genuine business activity and used them to generate invoices and route transactions for alleged tax and ITC manipulation.

Police are also looking for six other suspected members of the network who remain absconding.

Investigation Began With GST Complaint

The case originated from a complaint filed by GST officials at Kila police station in Bareilly last year over suspected tax evasion involving allegedly fraudulent firms.

During the initial investigation, police arrested Saddam Hussain and Mohammed Samad alias Shah Rukh. Subsequent questioning and examination of the financial trail reportedly helped investigators identify additional people allegedly connected with the network.

Authorities are now attempting to establish the full scale of the suspected operation and identify the ultimate beneficiaries of the transactions.

Suspect Allegedly Operated From Nepal

Investigators traced Furkan Hashmi, a resident of Bada Bazaar in the Kila area, who allegedly left India after the case was registered and travelled to Nepal.

Police said he was living there under the assumed identity of Sandeep and allegedly remained in contact with associates through a messaging application. Investigators allege that he continued assisting with the preparation of invoices linked to the suspected fraudulent firms.

According to police, information obtained during questioning helped investigators identify Sagar Agrawal as the alleged key operator of the network.

Fake Firms Allegedly Used to Generate Invoices

Police allege that Sagar Agrawal arranged firms that were subsequently used for transactions involving purportedly bogus ITC.

Investigators also identified the alleged involvement of Vineet Arora, Anuj Agrawal and Shivam alias Lala. According to police, the three allegedly operated from an office located opposite the DM compound, which investigators suspect was used to coordinate the network’s activities.

All four were subsequently arrested.

Residential Addresses Allegedly Used for Shell Firms

Investigators suspect that the syndicate recruited people willing to have firms registered in their names and at their residential addresses in return for payments.

According to police, Furkan allegedly told investigators that Vineet Arora encouraged him to establish a firm and paid him ₹50,000 for the arrangement. A firm called FS Traders was subsequently registered using Furkan’s residential address, police allege.

Authorities are now investigating how many similar firms were created and whether their registrations were used to generate invoices without genuine commercial activity.

Suspects Allegedly Had Different Roles

Police have attributed different responsibilities to the arrested individuals as part of their preliminary investigation.

According to investigators, Vineet Arora allegedly handled cash settlements, while Anuj Agrawal was responsible for filing GST returns associated with the firms under investigation.

Shivam alias Lala allegedly managed the movement of funds and helped transfer money through informal channels to beneficiary businesses and Sagar Agrawal.

Investigators are continuing to verify these alleged roles through financial records and digital evidence.

Six Suspected Members Still Absconding

Police have identified six additional suspects who are currently reported to be absconding. They are Syed Saif, Shajiz, Asif, Tausif, Firoz and Fammi alias Faraz.

Searches are underway to locate the suspects and determine their alleged involvement in the wider network.

Authorities are also examining whether other businesses and individuals may have benefited from transactions involving the suspected bogus ITC.

Electronic Devices Seized

Police have recovered a laptop, charger, mouse and six mobile phones from the arrested accused.

The devices are being examined for evidence relating to company registrations, invoices, bank accounts, communications and financial transactions. Investigators expect the digital examination to help establish links between the suspects and firms allegedly used in the scheme.

₹100 Crore Financial Trail Under Examination

A major focus of the investigation is the financial trail involving transactions valued at more than ₹100 crore.

Police are examining bank accounts and other financial records to determine how funds moved between the suspected firms, how much ITC was allegedly generated or transferred without genuine transactions and who ultimately benefited.

The investigation is also expected to establish the number of companies allegedly created for the scheme and whether legitimate businesses were knowingly or unknowingly involved.

The five arrested individuals are accused in the case, and the allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings. With several suspects still at large and the financial trail continuing to be examined, police are expected to take further action as additional evidence emerges.
